This week on Old Dudes New Tricks, Gary is going solo. We have both been slammed with work this summer and my job required me to work two full days this weekend to countermeasure a problem. Thankfully Gary stepped up with the hosting duties to interview John Pugliano, a money manager and the author of the book, The Robots are Coming: A Human’s Survival Guide to Profiting in the Age of Automation. In this episode they talk about surviving in an automated world. It’s rare when I listen to an entire episode of our podcast and it definitely opened up my eyes and entertained me. I think you are going to enjoy the episode as well.
Over the past 30 years, John has honed his skills as an individual investor, building his personal portfolio and developing a unique trading style. Today John’s the founder and money manager at Investable Wealth, LLC a fee only investment advisory firm licensed in the State of Utah. He’s also the host of the Wealthsteading Podcast.
Gary and John start off talking about one of our favorite topics, entrepreneurship. John, like most of us, started his life working in the corporate world and realized his passion for self-employment. They discuss his transition from working for somebody to working for yourself. They then dive into his book and discuss how people that work, like me, in manufacturing and John explains how to protect yourself from losing your job to automation. They transition that into a discussion on jobs out there now that will last the robotic revolution.
